  1. aimanazlan904:04pm via Tweet ButtonOne of the best explanations of Khushoo’ I’ve read | How to Gain Tranquility in Your Prayer Series (Part 1

  2. Jazaak Allaahu khair! Praise be to Allaah.

Can someone post the Arabic of the dua posted above please. “O Allah, I seek refuge with you from the non-beneficial knowledge, from a heart that does not possess khushoo’ from the evil desire which is never satisfied and from supplications which are not accepted.”

      reference: Muslim

  3. Jazakallah Khair for this whole series! I feel like we forget sometimes (when we get into the habit of praying) what the actual etiquette of Namaaz is! Alhamdulillah it’s good that we’re praying, but this is an amazing reminder of how to reconnect with our lord Inshallah ^_^!

  4. Salamou’alaykoum Hana,

This is the translation of the dua in arabic:
اللهم إني أعوذ بك من علم لا ينفع ومن قلب لا يخشع ومن نفس لا تشبع ومن دعوة لا يستجاب لها

Phonetically: Allahouma ini a’oudhoubika min ‘ilmin lâ yanfa’ wa min qalbin lâ yakhcha’ wa min nafsin lâ tachba’ wa min da’watin lâ youstajâbou laha.

    Amin

Hope it will help you inchaAllah ;-) !

  5. salam i have a question on salah i go to college and dhuhr salah is like 30 mins after i leave the house so i miss it and i usually miss asr 2 as i am at college and am not able to do salah would it be possible for me to pray the dhuhr salah before i leave as i have read that allah does not accept salah which has been done too early
    thanks

    • @Fatima – Wa alaikumussalaam warahmatullah. You’ve read correctly in that Salah must be prayed at its time; it cannot be prayed before. It’s also not okay to miss a prayer. I understand the obstacles that stand in our way in certain contexts. However, we need to do our best to overcome them. For example, if there’s no place to pray, be creative. :) I’ve head/seen people praying wherever they could, in an isolated room, in a corner, on a table, on a row of chairs, etc. Remember, it’s a meeting with Allah which we must attend. :)

If you’d like a detailed answer to your question, I’d advise you to consult an authentic scholar on Islamic fiqh (jurisprudence) as it’s not our area of expertise. If you do not have access to any, perhaps you could try online fiqh Q&A sites such as:

      http://muftisays.com
      http://islamqa.info

      I hope this helps.

  7. salam i was wondering about the tahajjud prayer during ramadhan as it is ramadhan i want to pray tahajjud to get closer to allah however i stayed awake all night afte taraweeh and thought id pray it as im awake however i found out that im meant to sleep and then wake up? but i cant do that because when i sleep i don’t wake up or i wake up late so ill miss it its the 21st of july 2014 now which is the 21st of ramadhan 2nd day of qiyam ul layl so could i pray tahajudd without sleeping and i also feel tired when praying taraweeh at home because its like at 11:00pm till 12 ans i end up being dizzy and feel tired also i have sleep during prayer aswell how can i prevent this? thanks

    • Wa alaikumussalaam warahmatullah Muslimah,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You do not necessarily have to sleep before tahajjud. Though it is preferred that you do, it is not a requirement for your tahajjud to be valid or accepted. You can read more about that here: http://www.askimam.org/public/question_detail/18254.

Here are some practical tips to overcome the sleepiness during prayer at the time of taraweeh:
      – Firstly, keep a light stomach. Don’t fill yourself up too much between iftar and taraweeh.
      – Do a really quick 5-10 minute workout right before isha/taraweeh. It could be some push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, etc. You’ll be warmed up, blood circulating, heart pumping, and awake for taraweeh, in sha Allah. :)
      – Splash your face with cold water in between your taraweeh, if needed.
      – Sometimes, a quick power nap (20-minute nap) helps. It’s something one needs to train themselves to be able to do. If you can have a quick power nap, that would really help as well.

      I hope this helps!

      • thanks a lot i will surely try this however when u say power naps i cant even have power naps because i help my mum out and like even if i do sleep then i don’t wake up early or i wake up late like i try to wake up late now because usually i wake up at 7:00am as i had to get my lil sisters ready for school but now that’s its the summer holiday i sleep until 10am would this be alright 2? because i didn’t feel sleepy this time whilst praying taraweeh
and i seriously have this big problem in not listening to my mum i hate myself for being like this i want to listen to her but she is brought up on culture mainly so all the Islamic things i have learnt i try to explain to her but she just says that i should be ashamed of my self or she fights and stuff and then i talk back and fight back but i know im not meant to ,pls help if u know any easy ways i can destroy this habit as i wanna change before ramadhan finishes and ive watched a lot of Islamic videos even productive muslim videos but i still cant seem to destroy this habit:( i have a feeling that im going to go to hell because of this bad habit:( i just heard that my fiancee’ is doing itikaf in the masjid so like i feel that he is getting closer to allah but im not
