  3. Assalamu alaikum… My three challenges are to pray the five daily prayers at the beginning of their time, to avoid fry items for a week and to sit with my parents and siblings for 30 mins every day

  4. Jazakumallahukhayran for the challenges :D
So I’ve decided to Pray Duha daily, sleep early after Isha and Sit with my parents and siblings at least 30 minutes per day

    • Assalamoe alaykoum,

Can you perhaps explain to me what duha prayer is. Is this the same prayer that is prayed after shuroeq time?

      Wa alaykoum assalam,

      Hind

      • Duha Prayer is a naafil(voluntary prayer) that can be prayed “from the time when the sun has risen to a certain height, until just before the time for Zuhr prayer” – [Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 11/401]
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen defined it as being from a quarter of an hour after the sun has risen until ten minutes before Zuhr prayer. [Al-Sharh al-Mumti’, 4/122]
Evidence for this from the Prophet (SAW) can be found in Hadith 748 in Sahih Muslim.

The minimum number that has been reported in the case of Duha prayer is two rak‘ahs. [Hadith 1981 in Sahih Bukhaari, Hadith 720 and 721 in Sahih Muslim]

  5. اسلام عليكم و رحمة الله و براكاته
From the Spiritual Challenges I chose : 3) Pray Duha prayer every day.
From the Physical Challenges: 3) Have fruits and vegetables at least once a meal.
And from the Social Challenges: 1) Sit with my parents and siblings for at least 30 minutes a day.
I feel sorta guilty for choosing the easiest option in each category though.
Thanks for the amazing podcast :)
    بارك الله فيكم

  6. It very enlightening and a great reminder of the benefits of Ramadan. The rewards in Ramadan is great and it is easy to get since the devils are all locked up in this holy month.

It is important to remind people of their duties towards Allah SWT and the great rewards in the dunia and the hereafter.

    Best regards

May Allah SWT accept your work and your fasting

    Maher abu–Mallouh

Jazakum Allahu khayra for the opportunity to help us be fully engaged to get to our goal.

  10. Salaam, Im exicited to give these tackle these daily challenges this coming week iA! My challenges are as follows:
    1) Spiritual challenge: pray duha prayer daily. (next week I want to tackle all my sunnah prayers!)
    2) Physical challenge: have fruits and vegetables at least once in a meal.
    3) Social challenge: since my parents are still alive I can’t do #2. Its also tough to do #1. In fact, what i’ll do is similar to #1 but not the same. iA I’ll call my parents and sister every day and ask after them for 15-20 minutes each. (It’s hard to drive 20 minutes each way to their home EVERY day with work and kids/schoolwork etc.) That still comes to 45-60 minutes of my day, every day, which is, sadly, far more than what I’ve been doing thus far.

    A) 2
    B) 3
    C) 1

  31. As Salaamu Alikum, inshAllah I’ll be working on praying after the athan and going to bed after isha. I’ve been struggling with waking up for fajr now that it’s 3am so inshAllah this will get me back on track.

Honestly, I’m struggling with the social challenge because I live in a different country from my family and unfortunately, I haven’t been on good terms with some of them since my reversion to Islam. Obviously I know this is a very crucial thing to remedy and something I definitely want to do, but it’s more involved and nuanced than a 1 week challenge. Can we pick something else from the social fitness test to focus on?

Jazakallahu khairan for this podcast, I’ve really been enjoying it so far

  32. Assalamu aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!
    I choose
    A) Double the amount of Quran I recite every day.

With regards to social, do you have any other suggestions? my parents are alive and well Alhamdulilah but I’m a student and live away from them. Our time difference is 7 hours and al though I call them everyday, neither of us can spend 30 minutes on the phone at a time.

    Jazakum Allahu Khairan :)
