  1. What about when someone is placed in a situation which overwhelms him, or where he feels he does not have the abilities to see it through. For example, a bereavement leaves the spouse having to cope with a large business that was successfully run by the deceased. Not everyone is cut out to be  a businessmen, and so you will often find people in situations they are not cut out for, though they may try their best. The anxiety comes from not knowing when to recognise this is not going to work out and give in.

Also, how can a coward overcome his condition? If you are in a situation where you want to pay off a debt (mortgage), but the only skills you have re those that pay the minimum wage, how can you hope to pay it off quickly? Is it that this dua is for strong and capable people who want to avoid these ailments, but perhaps for people who are already in this situation a dua may not be enough?

The Prophet (SAW) was never a person who displayed any of the characteristics in the dua, but for useless people, I don’t know if this dua will transform them into the person they need to be to address their situation.

    • The most important part of dua is not the words it contains, but the faith the person has in his Creator’s ability to bring His servant to overcome ANY of the difficulties he or she is facing.

Remember that Allah tests us, by testing you, He brings you closer to Him as he, every now and then, places you in a situation where you feel so lost, alone and helpless that you turn to Him, afterall He created you for Himself. Allah is our only Friend, our only Guide, our Wali. He is the Most Wise. He is the King of this world and all other worlds that exist beyond our knowledge, He knows everything. He is the King of mathematics , we see it in the perfection in nature, science in the creation of the universe, literature, poetry in the Holy Qur’an, art in the beauty of this world, architecture in the mountains and rivers and in the sky, geography, geology, biology in the creation of bodies to support our soul, business in how He guided our beloved Prophet ( SAW ) in doing business, engineering and anything else you can ever think of. Then why won’t He solve your business problems ? If our Prophet revealed so many amazing things to us, it is by the Grace of Allah.. remember our prophet (SAW) was illiterate…

You are not allowed to say that a dua was revealed exclusively for some. It is not because you do not trust that your Lord will answer you that He won’t. He will anyway, you should ask and ask because Allah loves it when we talk to Him :)

  2. Allahumma inni a’udhubika minal hammi wal hazan, wal ‘ajzi wal kasal, wal bukhli wal jubn, wa dhala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir rijaal
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and from being overpowered by men (other people)
    [Sahih al-Bukhari 7:158]

  10. Jazzaka Allahu kherian. This brings tears to my eyes and has come just when I was feeling very low, and despairing that I could come back from it–so low that I am recalling the times of hopelessness in my life, before I found Islam. May Allah multiply your good deeds and build up our Ummah to be a huge blessing for all the world.
