Reflecting on the manner in which the early Muslims and many more Muslims since then have memorised The Noble Quran, who would have thought that hifdh and technology would cross paths one day?
The Quran Tracker is a brilliant web-based tool that uses open source technology to help you monitor your hifdh as well as regular revision. So it’s not just for those who are memorising the Quran for the first time. Hifdh and revision are handled by two separate trackers so that you can keep them neatly in check.
The first thing that struck me about the system is its simple appearance. It is user friendly and intuitive – almost like an educational toy with colourful buttons. The layout is neat and the website easy to navigate, making you want to keep coming back and use the tool consistently.
Interacting with the system is easy and requires only a minimum number of mouse clicks. To include a surah in your tracker, for instance, all you need to do is select the corresponding check box and then click Add.
The fact that everything is stored online and that there is no download or installation required makes it easy for you to access your account from anywhere and at any time. So no more forgetting to update your bulky paper notes or going after missing sheets.
The colour coding that can be used on an ayah by ayah basis makes it extremely easy to know which ones you are thorough with and which ones need more effort – all at a glance!
Furthermore, the system even helps you with the actual hifdh/revision by providing audio recitation along with translation via Tanzil.net. Now if this isn’t a comprehensive tool I don’t know what is!
Quran Tracker presents all these features in an aesthetically appealing package. The ease of use, convenient access and ample features already developed and even planned for development are bound to catch the interest of both young and old, current huffaaz and aspiring ones Insha Allah Ta’ala.
