With so many productivity systems and theories popping out everywhere, I wanted to answer the question of some of our readers: what makes your work unique? Why should we be keen to follow the “ProductiveMuslim” productivity system?
Firstly, we have to be clear that we’re not advocating a “productivity system” in that we are outlining a specific methodology created in order to help people become more productive. Rather, we are advocating a psychological and spiritual understanding of productivity based upon the Islamic teachings and principles holistically. This understanding is rooted in that most of our readers and the ProductiveMuslim team are Muslims and we submit to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). Therefore, our role at ProductiveMuslim is simply to present key ideas from Islam that would help us all become more productive inshaAllah.
So, what are the foundations of the “ProductiveMuslim System”?
We have three major cornerstones:
1. We recognize the link between spirituality and our productivity levels:
We all believe in Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) and we believe that He has control and power over all things; we believe that all goodness comes from following the path He (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) has set for us through the example of Prophet Muhammad (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) and that if we follow this path it will have a direct effect on how successful we are in this life and in the Hereafter. ProductiveMuslim.com tries to highlight and emphasize this link with clear practical examples that relate to day to day practice.
2. We believe that many of the Islamic concepts would boost productivity:
Islamic concepts and ideals such as sabr (patience), amanah (trustworthiness), ikhlaas (sincerity), or tawakkul (reliance on Allah) encourage productive psychological and spiritual traits that can benefit us in our day-to-day lives.
3. Islam has many prescribed practices that practically teach us to be productive:
Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) orders us to wake up early every morning to pray Fajr and this is of huge benefit to us, not only spiritually and religiously, but also on a practical level – alhamdulillah for the blessing of being Muslim. Many global and local leaders in history – whether Muslim or non-Muslim – also make the wise choice to implement the productive habit of waking up early. Also, another act that Muslims do is fasting, which is again a form of worship and for our Hereafter, but there is much wisdom and lessons in fasting that also brings benefit to us in this life and the Next. It teaches us to be disciplined – a highly important characteristic of a truly productive person.
In a nutshell, we can summarise the “ProductiveMuslim System” we strive to implement in one sentence: If we truly implement Islam in our day-to-day lives, we’ll live extremely productive lives.
Our job at ProductiveMuslim is helping achieve that, inshaAllah. Our vision is that every Muslim and Muslimah rises to their full potential so that we truly become a productive Ummah inshaAllah.
If you share this vision, spread the word about ProductiveMuslim.com with your friends and family too!
