  5. wa ‘alykum assalam sister sheema,

I had the same problem and I was very very slow in reading the Quran. Last ramadan I intended to finish the Quran but couldn’t (other reason was that I lost motivation). This ramadan, alhamdulillah, Allah (exaulted is he) has helped me to read the Quran at a normal pace. My suggestion is somewhat similar to sister Rayhaaanah. And this is what I also did. I Signed up at Quran Tracker ( £18 a year), (their programme is deisgned to help you memorize the Quran). You can listen to the Quran, you can coose any ayah and listen to that ayah (can also continue listening from that ayah), you can shoose to listen to the whole surah, also. You can choose from a variety of reciters, Al- Afasy, Al-Ajamy, Bukhatir, Ghamadi, sudais, etc. What I did was I got my laptop out, connected to the internet and signed in and got my Quran out. I started listening from the ayah I was already at and while listening I was following the reciter in my Quran – I did this for about an hour the first time. I then stopped and started reciting myself for about an hour. When you recite, it is IMPORTANT that you recite for a LONG TIME for about an hour or two, long recitations really really help. This whole method has been so effective for me ( I found it much better then just listenting to the reciters). Even after the first time I found improvement. I usually listen to Ghamadi or Al-Afasy because their recitation goes at a good pace and recites more beautifully (in my opinion). With Allah’s help and With this method, your recitation, in sha allah will improve.

  6. I forgot to mention that while I was reciting, I sometimes stopped and followed the reciter again for some ayahs to see if I was making a mistake (sometimes I forget tajweed rules, etc) and I thought that this also helped in making my Quran recitation faster. I make dua that Allah, the most kind, helps you in this matter.

    • Also, when it comes to the elongations, don’t make it too long, this was one of my main problems so I listened to the audio to recite it in a similar or same legth as the reciters, they obviously read with tajweed rules.

  7. Insallah this year im going to recite the quran – I usually start off well but as days go on and tiredness kicks in along with other reasons I give up.

  8. Mashallah I could complete the Quran this year during Ramadan. It is such an exhilarating experience. I followed practically all the rules though I only read about them today when I have just finished :). But I can vouch for their efficacy. I could not read anything during the day time but I stuck to reading 20- 25 pages everyday after the tarawih prayers till suhoor and again after fajr. Alhamdulillah it worked. Just stick to the schedule and u will make it. Inshallah. Ramadan Kareem.

  9. #jazaka Allah iam muslim somali nationality, so i admired the work you are doing and i am congratulating all of you. insha Allah i will complete Holly Quran 5 times at least so say masha Allah.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum dear sister Amina,
The best of do’aa is that which is within Al Qur’an and from the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Ask to be granted Paradise, salvation from the Hell Fire, seeking help with Allah for refuge from Fitnah, etc.
May Allah Ta’ala bless you, dear sister

  11. Salaam Alaikum,
