  1. alhakummut takasur..hatta zurtumul maqaabir..Allah put it precisely in the Quran..
man is ever greedy for more & more until he visits his grave

  2. Jazakallah Khair for writing this amazingly helpful reminder! I love the concept of having the dunya in your hand, but not in your heart. The first time I was introduced to that concept, it put everything into a whole new perspective that was also easy to understand (now I knew what people meant when they talked about balancing deen and dunya). There is a book called The Minimalist if anyone in interested in it, i found it to be a very helpful book.

And You are so lucky if YOU are a MUSALMAN

    • Assalam u alaikum,

Qur’an is not a world book… Its a book from Jannah… Kalaam of Allah Subhana wa’ ta’ala.

  4. I remember reading this a while ago, and it has helped so much. I will carry on to make steady progress. Insh’Allah.

  5. JazakAllahu Khair. I pray to Allah that this inspires every human being and may Allah SWT make this a reality soon.

  6. Masha Allah amazing inspirational article. May Allah swt guide us to the straight path and protect us from the extreme danger of materialistic duyna.

  7. AssalamuAlaikum,
At last!! I found this article! Something I had been searching for desperately to clear up my misconception on zuhd! Living a simple live and being a Muslimah “minimalist” is still one of the hardest thing I’m struggling with today. Thank you so much Abu Productive. May Allah elevates you in dunya and akhira. May Allah makes us stronger in overcoming this life challenges and please Allah (s.w.t).

  8. I love this article and it has come at a perfect time in my life where I have reached at a fork in the road and have to choose a path to take. Alhamdulillah for the post. I have been having battles in my mind about how to apply the sunnah of zuhud but you have given us practical ways. Jazakallahu khairan

  9. I was about to purchase a new dress online, and already had all the bank card details filled out, then I remember this article I read, and I cancelled everything and closed the browser, realizing that I don’t even need a new dress.

I too, get sucked into this trend of buying and consuming, this piece is a very good reminder about how we should see this world. Jazakallahu khayr katheera.

May we be the people who put dunya in our hands and not in our hearts.
